The University of Newcastle upon Tyne Engineering Department has provided advice on development of a new gravity fed filter.
Whilst Maji Salama, as a charity, distributes filters free to those in need, it works with Maji Zima, a not-for-profit company registered in Kenya, that acts as the implementation arm, working with communities to install Maji Salama filters and providing education about sanitation and water borne diseases, and training on installation and maintenance of filters.”

A mixed day primary school in Kajaido County, on the southern border of Nairobi National Park, with just under 300 pupils. It is part of the pilot scheme for the new Maji Salama filter.
Network for Ecofarming in Africa (NECOFA) is a community based non-government organization promoting Ecofarming: ecologically and socially sustainable land management. It works towards empowering communities to sustainably access education, health, food security and social dignity. The organization has activities in Nakuru, Baringo and Makueni counties and works with rural community groups and schools.
A 20 acre safari lodge on the southern edge of Nairobi National Park, Ololo Lodge has been willing to assist with the pilot scheme for testing of the new gravity fed filter system.
A public mixed boarding school for physically challenged and health impaired children, from Mbita and neighbouring counties, established in 1990 as a children’s home, which became a school in 2008. Ndeda Dispensary is a health centre operated by the Kenyan Ministry of Health in Ndeda, Bondo district, in the west of the country. It provides a range of general medical services to the surrounding community.
